Palomar Mountain Meander
Camping facilities at the Pauma Valley "Rancho Corrido" resort were
quite nice. We all camped on grass with full hookups (for those who
wished them) under large shady oak trees, with a sunny grassy knoll
nearby for picture taking at the "show and shine". Saturday's run took
us up the old Nate Harrison Grade, the only dirt road on the mountain
still open to the public. Upon arriving at the top, after a scenic
ascent and a tour of Doane Valley, we were greeted at "Mom's Cabin" for
a great lunch. After lunch we drove to the Palomar Observatory, for a
quick look and then descended the South Grade.
