The annual Manx Club Baja 1000 San Felipe run was held November 4-7, 1999. The trip was a combination off-road/on-road "fun run" titled Manx's to Margaritaville II. About 20 buggies made it for the all-driving trip which started and ended at Rancho Ensenada, just south of Ensenada, Baja California. The trip was arranged such that the Club members could visit the tech inspection area in Ensenada on Thursday. The Baja 1000 race started Friday morning. That morning we all headed for San Felipe as a group on the pavement. Parts of the race course intersected our path. In places, the payment was the race course. The Club got to see the trophy trucks up close and personal...the Club shared the pavement and was passed by a couple of the "monsters" in the canyon leading into Valle de Trinidad.

Friday night was spent at Pete's Camp in San Felipe...the weekend of the annual Shrimp Festival. Around noon on Saturday the Club meet at Zoo Road and headed for Mike's Sky Rancho, initially off-road via Diablo Dry Lake. On Sunday morning the Club took the Baja 1000 race course track from Mike's to the Pacific coast at Punta Colinet. Once at the coast, Club members that needed to get back to San Diego that day headed straight back to the border at Tijuana on the highway. Others took a dirt track up the Pacific coast near the beach, eventually returned to the coast highway, then headed back to Ranco Ensenada.

The annual event was again an international one, with members attending from Europe. Once again, the weather was good, the break-downs were few, and a good time was had by all.
