Intel Sues DEC For Patent Infringement

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 12, 1997 -- Intel Corporation filed its intended counter claim against Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) for infringement of 14 Intel patents. The patents cover a wide range of technologies, including microprocessor architecture and design, semiconductor manufacturing, video encoding/decoding, thermal management for portable systems, system architecture and design, and system service and management. These technologies are used widely throughout the DEC product line, including itís service business, microprocessors, semiconductors, PCs, portable PCs, workstations and servers.

DEC previously sued Intel on May 12, 1997 accusing Intel of infringing 10 DEC patents.
